So am I allowed to just go in and mentally puke up facts/data/sumaries on the manga articles? Or do I have to check in with someone first?

The nature of any wiki is open editing. Anyone can post anything on any wiki in existence. Anyone else can come along and delete or edit that edit. That's how wikis work. Some wikis allow anonymous edits, some do not. We do not to keep spamming at a minimum.
If you have major ideas about how the wiki should be altered, you have several options in order to be "heard:"
-Spell out your ideas in a Forum post
-Create a mock page as an add-on to your Personal Profile and invite the community to see it;
-Or just talk to an admin (namely, me).
I administer several wikis and some of the best ideas have come from editors. For example: the Psycho-Pass wiki needed a facelift. One energetic editor put together a mock main page and presented it. It was great and his "style" is in current usage now. He was also made a co-Admin by virtue of his efforts, his cooperative spirit and his dedication to the wiki over time.
I encourage you to continue editing, but advise that you check out both the Style Manual and the Community Message if you wish to be a solid citizen of this community.
Finally, to answer your question about "checking-in," the answer is "No," but the facts I just outlined still apply. If you wish to create a fanpage that can't be altered, there are many other websites that allow for that. FB, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest are a few; or you can start up another OHSHC wiki by clicking the "Start a wikia" button in the top right-hand corner above.
I hope this addresses your concerns. Be well.
